Global Supply Chain Solutions Mentors University of Houston EMBA Students

Dallas, TX - July 15, 2011

Mr. Philip Odette, Sr. VP of Business Development for Global Supply Chain Solutions (“GSCS”), based in Dallas, TX, USA, was an honored guest speaker for Dr. Gordon D. Smith, Professor, Supply Chain Management, teaching graduate EMBA/MBA Supply Chain Operations at the University of Houston, TX, through CT Bauer College of Business, Department of Decision and Information Sciences, to present on the topic of Supply Chain to his students.

Mr. Odette shared real world product lifecycle management experience in the electronics industry.  Dr. Gordon Smith commented, “Mr. Odette was able to provide actual examples of global evolutions which apply directly to the supply chain concepts that the EMBA students are learning in the classroom.”

Mr. Shawn Smith of EDP Renewables was in attendance and stated that his favorite element of the presentation was, “The importance of outsourcing to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.  It’s best to let others do what they do best rather than trying to do it yourself.”  He also noted that he took away from the presentation a new understanding about, “The importance of the 'cloud.'  It opened my eyes to how it will become more important and prevalent in the future of business.”
